Cyclodextrins are cyclic oligosaccharides resulting from the enzymatic degradation of starch by the enzyme CGT (Cyclodextrin-glucose-transferase), so they are biotechnological products obtained from raw materials of plant origin. As sugar molecules, they have considerable moisturizing properties. They protect the active principle, improving the stability against oxidation of either hydrosoluble or liposoluble molecules and, thanks to the controlled-released process,
they enhance the activity of the included substance. When dissolved in water, ß-cyclodextrins have a lifting action and form a transparent and invisible skin film.
