LIPOSYSTEM COMPLEX® is a complex between active ingredients and phospholipids. Phospholipids are amphipathic molecules made of glycerol, bound to two fatty acid chains, while the remaining part consists in a hydrophilic compound, usually choline, serine, ethanolamine or inositol.
The addition of water to the LIPOSYSTEM COMPLEX® causes the natural formation of small unilamellar liposomes, with the active principle directly bound to the lipid layer. The amphipathic nature of phospholipids constituting the double lipidic layer of the liposomial membrane, allows the preliminary creation of bonds with both hydrophilic and lipophilic molecules and the active principle links to the corresponding hydrophilic or hydrophobic part of the liposomial vesicle.
The obtained complexed liposomes offer a largest surface of bond to the active principle, thus providing a very high encapsulating property of the active molecule, close to 100%. The importance of LIPOSYSTEM COMPLEX® in dermocosmetics is considerable: acting as a natural carrier, it increases the absorption of the active principle and guarantees a higher dermoaffinity of the product, since the specific activity of the complexed substance is combined with the softening, hydrating and nourishing action of phospholipids. The complexed active principle is protected from chemical and enzymatic aggressions and almost entirely released in its site of action.
